 NOW THAT EVERYONE HAS SUCCESSFULLY PUT THE TRAUMATISING YEAR OF 2017 BEHIND THEM (WE HOPE), WE’RE FINALLY READY TO WELCOME 2018. AND WHAT BETTER WAY TO DO THAT THAN BY GIVING YOU THE RELEASE YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL YEAR? YES, THE MOMENT IS FINALLY HERE. TODAY, WE UNVEIL OUR MASTER LIST OF 2018 WORLDWIDE HOTEL OPENINGS! 
As is tradition, our Master List spotlights the newest batch of design, boutique, experiential and innovative hotels across the world. Of course, there are always a few notables from larger hotel brands, often included because of a desirable location or a new concept. But for the most part, the hotels listed below have those rebellious qualities that we just can’t get enough of. 
For those of you who only have a few minutes to peruse The List, we advise you to: one, bookmark this page so you can quickly (and frequently) come back to it; and two, take a minute to read our List highlights:
2018 should see the opening of hotels from two retail furniture companies – west elm in Detroit and Restoration Hardware in New York – as well as the opening of the very first Equinox Hotel (also in New York). Will retail brands successfully break into the hospitality business? This year we shall find out.
There’s also something in the water in Los Cabos, Mexico – and it’s not what you think. Development has been booming in its tourist corridor for several years, and now it’s time for the hotel doors to open. Montage, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton and Nobu all have properties set to open in Los Cabos this year.
London and Paris both have a handful of yummy hotel openings, including a new Soho House property (White City House) and a Cheval Blanc in the old Samaritan department store.
In Asia, we’re most excited about the Middle House Shanghai from Swire Hotels, as well as the slew of Rosewood Hotels set to open. Kuala Lumpur will shine even brighter when a W, Four Seasons and citizenM open before the year is out.
Top-tier luxury brands in the Middle East will continue to dazzle their well-heeled guests, but we sincerely hope that the late Zaha Hadid’s architectural vision for the ME by Mélia Dubai will open this year, too. (Two more of her properties – The Morpheus in Macau and the Jumeirah Nanjing – are also set to open in 2018.)
Last, but certainly not least, New York remains a sizzling hotel market, with marquee openings from Freehand, Mr C. Edition and even Ace Hotels.
Of course, that’s just what we think is noteworthy. You may find your own piece of hotel heaven somewhere else.
As always, we’ve done our best to post the most current opening dates we could find – but never fear, we’ll be updating those dates as the year progresses.*
*Of course, many of these will be subject to delays. And some hotels may actually never open.

Miami´s skyline changes: Waldorf Astoria hotel

Here I share with you one of the most interesting hotel openings for 2019. It is going to change Miami´s skyline and will be the first hotel in town of one of the most famous luxury hotel brands in the world. The Waldorf Astoria Hotel Miami, to be located at 300 Biscayne Boulevard, will mark the  debut of the Waldorf Astoria brand in Miami . The company,  owned by Hilton Hotels ,  operates 30 properties worldwide , including two in Boca Raton, two in Key West and one in Orlando. Designed by the Miami firm  Sieger Suarez Architects , the skyscraper will resemble a pile of unevenly stacked glass cubes. The building is projected to reach 1,049 feet in height, making it  one of the tallest in Florida . The current titleholder is the  Panorama Tower in Brickell,  which stands 868 feet tall. Caribbean-Mexico Hotel Development Pipeline Nears 30,000 Rooms

The Caribbean-Mexico development pipeline is nearing 30,000 rooms, according to a new report from hotel analytics firm STR. There were 170 hotels and 29,572 rooms in the hotel development pipeline in the Caribbean and Mexico through September, according to STR. That represented a 23.5 percent increase in rooms under contract compared with the same month in 2013, with a 31 percent increase in rooms in construction. The upscale segment accounted for the largest number of rooms in the latest report, with 7,213 rooms. The luxury segment was next with 6,189 rooms or 20.9 percent of the total pipeline.   http://www.caribjournal.com/
